If you are the unfortunate one to have to look into revisional rhinoplasty in Atlanta, otherwise called secondary or tertiary, you must be 100% sure you are choosing the right plastic surgeon. A revisional rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct an unsatisfactory result from a previous nasal surgery.

Sometimes the cosmetic result may be what you hoped for, but there are medical or functional issues that you can’t live with. These issues can affect your breathing dramatically, whick will alter your lifestyle the majority of the time.

If the second time you choose an experienced and very competent surgeon, they will usually correct this bad “nose job” and get you feeling much better about your looks and your physical issues you may have had after the first rhinoplasty.

Please also remember the second time around the procedure is more difficult due to scar tissue from the first rhinoplasty. If after the second surgery there are still problems you must see a specialist immediately! In fact, it is strongly recommended to seek a revision specialist for the second surgery anyways.

Please utilize the resources this site offers in conjunction with your own thorough research to increase your chances of receiving a great surgical result. There are many surgeons who perform consistently good rhinoplasties but far fewer who excel at performing revisions.

Anyone looking into rhinoplasty always want to hear the stories of people who have already gone through it. This makes the decision easier if you hear or read some positive stories. If they are not so positive, this will let you know to keep looking for a surgeon you are comfortable with and have the utmost of confidence in.

You must make sure these stories are real and not fictitious. You can do this by getting patients contact information from the plastic surgeon you are considering using. If they will not let you contact previous patients, I would not consider hiring them. It’s a must to get the “real” story with “actual” patients and not something your read on the Internet or in a magazine.

Some of the “real” rhinoplasty stories are pretty amazing. The results can be amazing. The telltale is pictures though. A picture is worth a thousand words right? You’ll want to see as many rhinoplasty before after pics as you can to really see how effective that cosmetic surgeon is.

Combining the “real stories” and the pictures will give you a boost in confidence for that specific doctor, and most likely help you make a decision to hire them.

If you’re an Atlanta resident and you’re looking into rhinoplasty for your nose, you may want to learn what you need to do before and after your surgery, to make sure you’re ready for this life-changing procedure.

You’ll want to put some time into researching the right surgeon and the right procedure as there are a couple of ones to choose from. Because we are talking about your appearance and it being permanent, you will want to see as many before and after pictures of previous patients to help you decide on what surgeon to choose for your rhinoplasty.

Before your rhinoplasty you want to get a clear understanding of the cost, the procedure and the hopeful outcome. After your surgery is completed you don’t want to wake up to a nightmare of a result and have to either live with it, or have it redone by another plastic surgeon.

Once you’ve chosen your Atlanta rhinoplasty surgeon, make sure you follow their instructions to minimize the possibility of any side effects during your rhinoplasty recovery. One very critical thing to do after the procedure is to keep you head elevated. This will minimize any kind of deformity and also allow you to breath better during recovery.

I know you are hoping and wanting the best results, but it’s ultimately up to you to do your research and pick the surgeon that you are most confident with. The before and after transformation will be well worth the time you put in!

After your rhinoplasty surgery, you must follow your surgeons instructions to the tee to have a full and quick recovery. One of the first things to expect is quite a bit of bruising and a swollen face. You will also feel like you are stuffed up with a nasal cold, but it’s just the trauma your nose and surrounding area just went through.

You may or may not have the packing that you’ve seen and heard, but if you apply ice you will help minimize the swelling and the pressure you feel. You can use regular ice or you can get a small bag of frozen peas or even berries. These two are better because they remain frozen longer, keeping your trips to the freezer at a minimum.

The bruising can look nearly frightening. Don’t be bothered by this. I know it’s easier said then done, but I’m sure your surgeon will show you some patient pictures to prepare you for what to expect. As these bruises heal, they will actually get even darker, so don’t worry.

One thing that is also very common is the ingestion of blood during the surgery. It can cause you to get sick and very nautious later on. Some patients throw up a couple of times, and it has nothing to do with the anesthesia. You may also get very tired of having to breath through your mouth and feeling stuffed up. It can grate on your emotions, and even cause an anxious state which can be mood-altering.

Rhinoplasty Recovery Continue…

If you live in Atlanta Georgia, and you are looking for a rhinoplasty surgeon, there’s some critical things to take into consideration. Believe it or not, there are some shady plasty surgeons what are more than happy to take your money in return for a poor result. You don’t want to be in that situation. You want to arm yourself with enough credible information (keep reading this site), to make an informed decision and get the results you want and expect.

Board Certified Is A Must

Any surgeon you consider for your “nose job” should be board certified. The American Board of Plasty Surgery should be on his resume. Also… American Board of Medical Specialties is a nice addition.

Years Of Professional Experience

This is critical. You do not want a plastic surgeon who has just gotten out of residency. You want a surgeon who has at least 5 years of practical and professional experience in rhinoplasty surgeries. Regardless of background information, always ask potential rhinoplasty surgeons for before and after photos of their patients.

You will pay more for this level of doctor, but you don’t want to make the wrong decision based on fees and get a poor result you’ll have to live with forever! If you have to, finance the surgery to get a better, more qualified and experienced surgeon.

An experienced rhinoplasty surgeon will be able to provide a realistic expectation for the outcome of your surgery, and rhinoplasty surgeons who have had time to perfect their technique are better able to predict the results. Rhinoplasty surgeons with more experience can also be valuable should any complications arise during surgery.

The ideal person for rhinoplasty is a person that has a disproportionate or disfigured nose, but that maintains good health and mental faculties, and that has a realistic outlook on their results. When you research for a cosmetic surgeon he/she will show you before and after pictures of clients and discuss what’s possible with your Atlanta rhinoplasty surgery.

There are two typical procedures that a plastic surgeon can do on your nose. The open rhinoplasty and the closed rhinoplasty.

The open rhinoplasty is where the surgeon makes a rather small inciston involves a small incision across the columella, in the spot between the nostrils. Incisions inside the nose are also needed. This procedure is most used in more difficult surgeries.

The closed rhinoplasty is where the plastic surgeon makes the incision inside the nose only. The recovery is faster with much less swelling. The only downfall is the doctor may not be able to get similar changes as compared to the open rhinoplasty, due to not being able to see certain areas inside the nose.

Many surgeons will push for the open procedure because they can see more of the nose. The outcome is more swelling and bruising, but if you follow instructions and elevate your head when you sleep for about a week after the surgery, the swelling will go away much faster.

In most cases, insurance will not cover your rhinoplasty surgery, but if your nose issue is causing breathing difficulties, or maybe you have a birth defect, you may be able to get it covered. The main questions you should ask your insurance company is:

Does your insurance policy cover the costs of the surgery, the anesthesia, revisions, and/or other related hospital costs? If so, will that increase your premiums? And will this create problems with future coverage issues?

Like any surgery procedure rhinoplasty comes with risks. If you choose a credible and experienced plastic surgeon the risk is much less. Either way, you’ve got to educate yourself on all possible risks and complications that may occur. Some of the more common complications are nosebleed, possibly a negative reaction to the anesthesia, and quite possibly some infectious reactions.

When your surgeon gives you specific pre and post surgery instructions, follow them exactly and you won’t have to deal with too many complications, if any at all. The risk of infection is always there like any surgery, but again, listening specifically to your cosmetic surgeons instructions and advice will minimize this occurrence dramatically.

Some of the risks and complications of your rhinoplasty surgery are:

Bleeding: Experiecning bleeding after your surgery is very normal. In fact, it may last up to 4 weeks. You must do the best you can not to blow your nose or pick it if you want to keep the bleeding to a minimum.

Burst Blood Vessels: After your surgery, you may experience a very small burst of blood vessels that look like tiny red spots on the very surface of your nose skin. They spots may become permanent. The chances are minimal, but they could happen on rare occasions.

Abnormal Shape: Unfortunaetly you may come out of surgery with an abnormal nose shape. This could be a surgery issue or the patient didn’t follow surgeon instructions to keep the head elevated, or quite possible sleeping on one side could do it as well.

Infection: Infection around the wound area can easily happen but the chances are under 5%, so follow instructions and it won’t happen anyways.

If you are researching the cost of rhinoplasty surgery in Atlanta, or the state of Georgia for that matter, it will vary depending upon the surgeons experience, the area you live in (Atlanta would be more expensive than a smaller suburban area for instance), also the price would vary depending on how extensive the surgery needed to be to get your nose the way you want it.

Please keep in mind your estimate will not be accurate until the surgeons examines you and comes up with a surgical procedure needed. Atlanta rhinoplasty will be a little bit on the high end due to it being a big metropolis.

Given the above information the range for rhinoplasty costs are as low as $3,000 to as high as $8,000. The fee is broken down into the fee for the actual surgery, for the anesthesia and lastly the facility (hospital). The anesthesia price will be $600 - $1,000, the cost for the faccility $700 to $1,100, and the remaining balance is for the surgeon’s fee.

As you can see… the plastic surgeons fee is the biggest portion of the bill, but also the most difficult to figure out before hand. But I would not cut corners in hiring the most qualified cosmetic surgeon even if the fee is a bit on the high side. You don’t want to be disappointed with the result, since you’ll have to live with it.

If you find that the cost is out of your price range, you can ask your surgeon if they provide financing or if they can take monthly payments.

If you’ve been considering a “nose job” for some time and you reside in Atlanta, this city is full of credible cosmetic surgeons (we will provide you with many resources on this site) who can give you the results you want. You must make sure the plastic surgeon you ultimately choose is board certified, has several years of professional experience, and several referrals (previous or current patients) you can talk to about their experience and the results of their rhinoplasty procedure.

Correcting a deformity with your nose can give you a boost of confidence that literally change both your personal and professional life. Many of us have lived with our physical insecurities and have made life choices based on them. All it takes is a physical change (rhinoplasty surgery) and the world can be yours.

Interview at least two maybe three plastic surgeons before you make your final decision. Your nose is a piece of you and you should not make a choice lightly. Educate yourself first… then make your best decision based on all the information you gathered.
